Our 5th and 6th grade students engage in puzzles, playing games and dominoes, creating with Play-Doh, and simply talking and laughing together when they are finished with their work! Remembering that, stepping away from screens gives students a chance to slow down, think creatively, and connect with one another in meaningful ways.
Why screen-free time matters:
• Improves focus and attention
• Builds problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Encourages creativity and imagination
• Strengthens social skills and teamwork
• Supports emotional regulation and overall well-being
We love seeing our students engaged, collaborating, and having fun the old-fashioned way!

The Anxious Generation Book Study:
NDSU Extension is offering a free book study to all area parents and caregivers! Participants will receive a free copy of The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt at the first session. We will meet for four weeks to discuss why what’s on the screen matters more than the minutes spent, how technology can lead to a rise in anxiety and depression, and how to connect with your kids at any age.
We will meet Tuesdays starting Feb. 10th, 7pm at the Cavalier Public Library. Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins welcome!
